Wednesday

We began our Cells and Microorganisms Unit of Study today.  The children took cheek cells and attempted to view them under a microscope.  Success was not achieved.  The skies clouded over and the rainstorm blocked out the needed sunlight.  We will attempt this experiment again tomorrow in hopes of seeing what animal cells look like.  

Study Guides Coming Soon:  The copy machine has finally been fixed and I will be able to scan study guides and notes to the website.  Please be sure to check that page over the next week as I am able to get the various items scanned to digital copy.  

Important information to place on your calendar at home:
Friday, August 26th 

• 5th Grade Picture Day.  Please have your 5th grader wear Spirit Wear as all 5th graders will gather to take the whole class picture.  This is our only opportunity to have all 5th graders gathered together for the yearbook.  Please be sure your child is there!
• Place Value Test.  Review the study guide with your child.  Please ask him/her questions similar to the ones you see on the study guide to be better prepared for the exam.  I am offering a math lunch on Thursday, August 25.  All students are invited to attend.  An extra credit point is given to any child that participates in the study session.
• Field Trip Forms. These forms are due!! If your child has not brought it in yet, please send it in asap.  The parent coordinators are busy getting everything in order for our trip next month.  If you decide that your 5th grader is not to go, please state that on the front form and send that in. 

Monday, August 29th

• Social Studies, Chapter 5 Test: Causes of the Civil War. We are finishing up the first Unit of Study.  Please be sure your child is reviewing the study guide.  There is a quizlet for your child to practice some of the terms.
